Main objective for packing to to keep items safe and from shifting around

  • Pack in tiers. Left to right.

    • Not from front to back. It creates hard to fit gaps as you pack.

  • Place heavy items at the bottom and lighter at the top.

    • Fragile boxes go on top of the tiers.

    • Chairs can be placed on top of tiers fitted seat to seat.

  • Flat items can go in between tiers.

    • Items like head boards, well boxed TV's, and art work.

  • Tiers are finished with mattresses and box springs to create a wall.

    • Tie off with ratchet straps or rope tie down.

    • Fragile items can go in between the mattress and box spring. Things like unboxes TV's and mirrors.

  • Finish off with odd shapede items and unstackable items.

Tips

  • Drape blankets over furniture.

    • Boxes hold the blankets in place.

  • Sofas that can't stand up in the truck/pod have to be loaded 1st.

    • Place on top of 2 dressers long ways, front to back, with the feet facing the wall. Place cushions and bags only on the back of the sofa.

  • Heavy duty straps don't fit the rails in Uhaul moving tucks.
